FAQ

Dr. Goldenson typically requests access to all relevant records (legal, medical, mental health, employment, etc.) at least one month in advance of the assessment so that she has time to review these materials.

Dr. Goldenson usually meets with individuals twice. She often conducts the initial appointment virtually, and this typically lasts 2-3 hours. She conducts a follow-up in-person assessment either at her office, or in some circumstances, she travels within the province to the location of the person being evaluated. The in-person assessment typically lasts 4-6 hours. She undertakes assessments outside the province on a case-by-case basis with permission from the regulating body in that province.

People should try to come rested. They should bring reading glasses or hearing aids if these are needed, as well as a list of current medication. It is advisable for people to avoid drinking alcohol or taking recreational drugs the night before the assessment. Because the assessment can take several hours, people are welcome to bring food to eat during breaks and there are also several places to eat near Dr. Goldenson's office.

While Dr. Goldenson does her best to conduct the assessment in a sensitive manner, sometimes people are asked about emotionally difficult topics. She suggests that people being evaluated consider seeking support before and after the evaluation.

Dr. Goldenson's office is easily accessible by public transportation including the Bloor Subway (exit at the Dundas West subway station) and the Queen Streetcar (501). For people coming by car, there is free street parking on side-streets near Dr. Goldenson's office.

Dr. Goldenson’s current office space is on the second floor and there is no elevator. With some advanced notice, she would be pleased to provide an alternate wheel-chair accessible location if this is needed.
